Weekend at the Lake
Hello! We spent the weekend at the lake with all but a couple members of our family. We had a great time for the most part. Sunday....not so much! It was a day of character building as my sister would say. I forgot Brayden's inhaler and would you know it.....he needed it. Christian volunteered to make the almost 2 hour drive back home to get it Sunday morning and I told him I thought Brayden would snap out of it not to worry about it. Well.....he never snapped out of it. We ended up taking him to an emergency room and lucky for us they just gave me a perscription for his inhaler without making us go through admissions. We were there all of 15 minutes. The closest pharmacy was 35 miles away. So off we went. We got there at 6:20 and the pharmacy closed at 6:00. I was thinking to myself.....this can't be happening. All I wanted to do was get Brayden some relief. I felt horrible 1st of all because I forgot the inhaler and 2nd because if Christian would have just gone that morning he would have been fine by then. You gotta understand by now we had been struggling with what to do. To drive home and come back or not. To just pack up and go home or not. To take him to an emergency room or not. An emergency room trip for an ashema attack is normally at least 3 hours and cost anywhere from $500 to $1000. I personally felt like a train wreck. So we see a sign at the window of the closed Walgreens pharmacy that says "Your closest 24 hour pharmacy is in Broken Arrow, OK" Mind you this is another 40-50 miles away. I see a Homeland across the street with a pharmacy inside. I cross my fingers and go there and of course they too closed at 6:00. I asked a few people in the store if they could help me and of course it's a small town on a Sunday evening.....everything was closed. I was left with no choice but to drive the extra 40-50 miles to get his medicine. So I call the number and get directions. We are well on our way only to discover we had been given WRONG DIRECTIONS! At this point I was ready to curl up on a ball and cry! So Christian called my Mom in Florida and asked her to google directions for us. MOM to the RESCUE!! THANKS!! So we turn around and go the right way. Finally we reach an OPEN pharmacy and get Brayden a puff off an inhaler about 2 hours after our journey began from the hospital. By now it's almost 9:00 at night, we've missed the traditional fish fry that my family was having back at camp. Homemade icecream that was churned by hand. Roasted marshmellows and smores. For that reason I was bummed and dissappointed but on the other hand RELIEVED that Brayden had his medicine. To top it off 30 minutes away from camp Brayden throws up. At this point all I could do was laugh and think to myself "What a night this has been!" Monday was a new and much better day. Brayden is doing fine and we have attached some pictures of our trip thanks to my sister Tammi who didn't forget her camera like I did. LOL Click on the picture below which will take you to an album. The young lady in the picture is Brayden's cousin Jasmine. I call her his partner in crime. Those two get along VERY WELL and LOVE to play together. I think they are both adorable! You'll see a picture in there of Brayden fixing her hair. TOO CUTE!! He's put a clippy in for her. Actually, in the picture he is trying to take it out but he had put in in there for her earlier. I hope you enjoy the slideshow of our trip. Love to all, Suzi
